Let Us Pray

If you have a prayer you would like for us to include in our daily devotions, please e-mail them to letuspray.eisenbath@gmail.com.

Thank you, friends, for praying with us …

Even when times are tough, Lord, we don’t despair because you are with us always. Please give us the joy of feeling your presence and the constant hope of knowing you are in control and love us. Know that we offer you a humble heart and contrite spirit, but also accept the sacrifice of our prayers and days. We confidently bring you our gratitude and needs. Please hear us and answer:

We come before you humbly and reverently:

  • Loving God, we know we are called to live in a way that imitates your Son. But that can be so difficult when faced with peer pressure, in particular. Please be with friend Kurt and others like him who seek to be people of faith when friends and even spouses don’t act in that way. Bless us with strength.

We praise you and implore you in love.

  • Dearest Father, you know the pain and struggles of those many couples in our lives who are trying to keep their marriages together. Send them a renewed joy in each other and the peace of deep love. Help them to seek the counseling they need. And be with all married couples as they strive to be a symbol of your love to the world.

We praise you and implore you in love.

  • Compassionate God, please receive the souls of Alice and Pat, who recently passed away. And send the comfort of your love to their families who will miss them a great deal.

We praise you and implore you in love.

  • Lord, we have so many special people to lay at your feet. … For Don Seiffert (colon cancer), for Kurt’s wife (cervical cancer) and for David’s wife (breast cancer), who all are bravely fighting their health battles. Please, can you find it in your will to heal them and calm their fears? … For Denis’ wife, who is having memory issues. Please give her a clear mind and the strength to get through these scary days. For Pat’s aunt Mary who needs strength to get through her illness. For Paul, recently diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Give them the strength and grace to get through each day and guard them on this journey

We praise you and implore you in love.

  • Dear Jesus, we bring so many people to you who don’t have you prominent in their lives — especially the young people among our families. Please love them in a profound way and bring them into your warm embrace. May they rejoice in your glory and know to thank you for all things.

We praise you and implore you in love.

  • Lord, see the pain and frequent hopelessness of all those who suffer mentally and emotionally so very much, those struggling daily with depression, bi-polar disease, anxiety and other mental illnesses … for Marcy … Kate K. … Martin … Irene … Mike Eisenbath … for Pam’s brother, who has schizophrenia, and her mother, who has bipolar disorder.

Bless those of us whose lives too often get filled with anxiety. May we find the ability to calm our minds and stay continually aware of your presence in our lives. May we channel our energies in the pursuit of helping those in need instead of wasting many hours to worrying and negativity.

And in a special way, please strengthen their families, friends and caregivers as they share from tender, aching hearts and tired bodies and spirits.

We praise you and implore you in love.

We bow our heads and bend a knee at the altar where you sit in such great love for us. Be merciful to us all and keep us ever-mindful that all good things come from you. Hear our cries for help. But give us grateful hearts. And we give you all the glory. Amen.

The Divine Office is the Catholic Church’s official set of daily prayers, also called the “Liturgy of the Hours” because they are to be recited at specific canonical hours. These prayers have heavy emphasis on praying the Psalms but, in the fullest scope, also include hymns and other Scripture readings. If you would like to begin praying the Divine Office regularly, this site provides an easy way to begin. The books with the prayers, used by most clergy and laity alike, can be expensive and difficult to navigate at first. This site has everything organized properly. Choose what best fits your schedule, and those prayers are just a mouse-click away.

Visit each day, if you want. You will find that day’s Catholic Mass readings from Scripture, along with a brief reflection no those daily readings. A wonderful habit to establish.
